For those following the fallout from the LSO CEOSS – pronounced CHAOS – stands for CEO Salary Scandal, there are some recent podcast / video interviews that may be of interest.
Obviously, the opinions expressed by the people appearing and interviewed are theirs alone as all the series’ disclaimers make abundantly clear – goes for me too – just my own fair comment.
Examples of recent programming and discussions, publications
WiCCD’s Maya Shukairy interviewed Sam Goldstein here:
Justice in Pieces’ JP Rodrigues interviewed Michael Cochrane and me here:
I’ve consolidated a bunch of my own writing and other media on the issues and the last Bencher Election on my blog here:
I watched the April Convocation and I encourage people to tune in and watch the public portions of those webcasts monthly.
AGM – WHERE WE GET TO BRING MOTIONS AND VOTE ON THEM
The AGM will be held on Thursday, September 18 2025 at 5:15 pm, I believe by Zoom.
I am mulling over several motions I might yet bring in relation to transparency and accountability. Mainly I want the global price tag disclosed for this fiasco.
I think we go back and start with the legal bills for then Treasurer Horvat to hire two law firms to help her get and keep the CEO’s salary increase out of Convocation and move from there to the various salary consultants, O’Connor, the PR image consultants for the LSO’s reputational rehabilitation to the governance consultants – which is just what we know so far.
Itemized it will look something like this:
The Society has already spent our fees on:
1. Legal Fees of Hicks Morley on authority to alter terms of the Compensation Committee and/or Diana Miles’ compensation without Convocation Approval
2. Legal Fees of Erin Kuzz who prepared to Diana Miles’ new employment contract
3. Diana Miles’ exorbitant salary and the increases in her compensation
4. The Gallagher Report – first compensation Review
5. The Towers Report – second compensation Review and review of the Gallagher Report
6. the O’Connor Investigation / Legal Opinion
7. The GT & Co PR firm to manage the Society’s Image
8. Governance Expert Richard Leblanc to advise on review and revision of LSO By-Laws and practices of Convocation
I need 10 signatories – I want to reserve spots for those whose names should appear as a matter of principle to document your courageous dissent and vocal hell-raising.
Write to me privately if you’re interested in supporting my motion(s) should I choose to forge ahead.
And if you have specific questions for the LSO arising out of this train-wreck or whatever else, the AGM really is the place to do this – motion away.
I’ve done it before albeit not for 30+ years. I guess I was a 2nd year lawyer then – November 1994. My motion was carried. Then exactly 30 years later, the LSO actually implemented it.
