I’m here to tell you, if you find yourself challenging something at the Consent and Capacity Board (CCB), you want to get the best representation possible and right now finding that special expertise is particularly difficult. The current systems in place are a perfect storm clouding clients’ ability to connect with someone who is able and willing to provide expert representation within the tight timelines of such applications.
We are Here to Help!! Call ASA for Representation with CCB matters for the Best Possible Results.

You can browse this website / blog for my experience and expertise over 33 years as a lawyer.
I’ve specialized in mental health law throughout my whole career.
If you want to read my long bio – my Curriculum Vitae – here it is:
I have co-authored five text books in this area and the Guide to Consent and Capacity Law in Ontario is the “seminal” book on the topic according to at least one Judge who said so in a case. It’s the book used by everyone who is serious about this area of the law.

Ordinary people love this book because it helps them to understand this specialized area of the law.
I spotted this gentleman in a food court at a mall a few years back casually perusing our CCB text!

I have cross-examined psychiatrists at hearings of the CCB many thousands of times.

I teach the law of Consent and Capacity and how to represent people at this tribunal at many law schools across Ontario and at regular continuing legal education events.

Here I am talking about the basics:
At our firm, we review your entire health record, however many thousands of pages, to make sure we know everything the other side will raise at the hearing. We will talk with you to find out what happened and your side of the story. We will inform you about the law and the process and answer any questions.
We will also bring motions, where appropriate, to challenge the legality of your detention or the CTO or if you’ve been found incapable to make your own treatment decisions.
We are here to stand with you and protect your rights against unwarranted detention and safeguard your ability to make your own treatment decisions.
We will assist you to file an appeal from the CCB if we did the hearing and you want to appeal further.
We are ethical, compassionate, thoughtful and experts in this specialized are of the law.
If you want the best representation, we provide it. Call us if you have a case before this tribunal.
You can reach me at my law firm of seven people if you have a case before the CCB or ORB (the Ontario Review Board) or if you want to appeal any of these tribunals’ decisions.
We look forward to helping you in your mental health law matter.
