Mental Health and the Law Panel – TMU Health Law Student Association – Feb 9 2026

What a lovely evening this was – thank you to the host organization, Toronto Metropolitan University’s Lincoln Alexander’s Law School’s Health Law Student Association and to the panelists who presented with me.

Cause for Optimism – Pictures that Paint a Thousand Words

Most of the law students interested in health law, mental health law, criminal defence of those with mental health conditions in this group at TMU are young racialized women.

Many wear the hijab.

Aspects of the administration of justice where racism and deep seated gender biases continue to dominate are in for a rude awakening and not a moment too soon.

Look at this diverse, beautiful group of the next generation’s brightest minds.
