And We’re Off to the WORLD SERIES – The Jays are 2025’s American League Champions – Oh My God!!

And they say there’s no crying in baseball. What nonsense – we were all bawling in the ballpark – nearly 45 thousand of us, and random strangers hugging, high-fiving, it all went deep into the night. Vlad bawled, Ernie sobbed, John Schneider and even Mark Shapiro shed some tears. Ross Atkins didn’t cry but he also may have no pulse. He did turn his cap around so I guess that’s him going crazy. Meanwhile the whole city completely lost our collective minds and the party could be heard around the nation.

And with good reason – this is 32 years in the making now – the furthest we’ve got since iconic 1993.

I’m gonna try my level best to recap the highlights as we experienced them here as a family.

But let’s face it – I’m not going to do it more or better justice than Joe Carter as he takes a reporter through his reaction to George Springer’s late game 3 run homer to save the day and the Jays. This is a good read:

DOESN’T GET BETTER THAN THIS!!

WHAT A NIGHT!!

Not gonna lie, I was scared to go. There was a LOT of stress and tension in that ballpark. The crowd was a little subdued at first. It was also a slow and almost boring game much of the time.

But things picked right up with one swing of the bat. Bottom 7, Springer, born for that 3 run homer.

That’s the thing about baseball, isn’t it? There’s always hope in every at-bat. And that’s why lawyers love baseball. Nobody more than me.

How lucky I was to be there with Roy for this one – the kids were too stressed to go.

The other thing of course was that it was Roy and me at Game 6, and therefore the whole family determined it must be us attending Game 7 – for luck. Consequently it took us like an hour to get ready as we had to do everything the same as the night before. I brushed my teeth the same way. Wore all the exact same clothes. Roy was given his marching orders to change when he made the rookie mistake of choosing a fresh different shirt first. We prevailed upon him to observe the golden rules of baseball superstitions.

And as we left the house, and my son came to hug me, before I let him, I said:

“Wait, did you hug me last night?” – He had done, so he was allowed to do it again.

And off we went. Got our rally towels and I spent the next three hours with one inside my ball cap….

Surreal as it is to say this out loud – but we will be back at the Dome this Friday night for Game 1 of well, yes, the WORLD SERIES!!

LET’S F*&%G GO!!!

And here in sunny, southern Alberta, I was out of my fucking mind when Springer hit the home run (thanks to great bunt by Gimenez). Just plain, ol’ awesome.
