OBA Awards Gala Night June 20 2024 – Jennifer Chambers accepts the OBA Foundation Award for the Empowerment Council

What a lovely evening this was – one on which I got to see my friend Orlando da Silva in person, however, briefly, listened to his moving speech and presenting the amazing Doron Gold with the award named after him. I saw friends Pam Hrick and Beth Beattie for the first time in a long time and met Twitter colleagues Imran Emmanuel Kamal, Brenda Hollingsworth and Oksana Romanov (thank you for the amazing chocolate!!) in person. I also sat next to the award-winning Professor Karen Eltis of the University of Ottawa and had a really illuminating conversation about internet law – made a new friend.

With all that said, however, of course the highlight of the evening for me had to be watching Jennifer Chambers accept the Empowerment Council’s OBA Foundation Award. I am brimming with pride! Much gratitude to Ed Upenieks who suggested we nominate the EC for this special honour. It was also great to see Ed!

You can read more about the award on my blog here:

I was obviously very excited to come to this party – here is a candid shot taken by my son of me running out of the house very late I’m afraid for the event – but so glad I made it and stayed the course!
