LAMDA and CLOC host 3rd Bench and Bar Zoom Advocacy Conference for Criminal Appellate Bar with Judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario Jan 26 2023

LAMDA is delighted to co-host this now annual event which is highly anticipated by the criminal appellate bar each year.

LAMDA is proud to announce that registration is now open for the 3rd Bar and Bench Zoom Advocacy Conference on January 26, 2023 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm (ET).

The event has been hugely popular in the last two years and registration is very competitive. LAMDA extends an invitation to several defence counsel organizations, as a courtesy. However, there are only 5-10 spots available to each organization.

If you are eligible to attend you should register early to secure a spot – they go FAST!

Please only apply once and with one email address even if you are a member of more than one of the organizations receiving this invitation to apply. You can indicate your membership in various defence organizations within the body of the application / registration form.

You may now register for the 3rd LAMDA CLOC ONCA Virtual Bar and Bench Zoom Advocacy Conference on January 26, 2023 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

LAMDA will host several Justices of the Court of Appeal for Ontario to Discuss “Connections” – connecting with the Court, connecting with opposing counsel, connecting with mentors. This is the third year this prestigious event is being offered. The atmosphere is collegial and informal to foster an open conversation among members of the criminal appellate bar, both Crown and Defence and Justices of the Court. Registration will be offered to counsel who appear in the Court of Appeal on criminal appeals or new lawyers who have an interest in doing so. We may include articling students, space permitting.

Seating is strictly limited to 100 participants, with 50 reserved for defence counsel. Opportunities to attend this event will be restricted to members of LAMDA, WiCCD, PBIAP and the CLA (including Recent Calls) in previously determined numbers.

This event is free and CPD accreditation for 2 hours of Professionalism will be sought from the LSO.

The event is held by Zoom. While the event will be recorded and likely made available, subject to approval from the Court, you will be asked for an undertaking not to release or publish it. If you do receive a copy, it is for your personal use only and you acknowledge that here.

If you have secured a spot, you will receive the Zoom link for the event, closer to the date. Inquiries about this event should be directed to Anita Szigeti c/o LAMDA at lamda.exec@gmail.com
