LAMDA CPD on Need to Collect Race-Based Data for ORB Tuesday September 15 2020 at 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

The experience of black and other racialized clients who are accused persons under the Ontario Review Board is not captured in any known studies. There is no race-based evidence with respect to whether black or other racialized NCR accused are over-represented in Review Board forensic psychiatric systems.

The Law and Mental Disorder Association is holding an evening of education on this and related issues.

Guests include Mark Waweru and Jennifer Chambers. Mark is under the ORB’s jurisdiction and Jennifer is the Executive Director of the Empowerment Council, systemic advocates for clients with mental health and addictions issues.

We will begin with screening a short film made by the participants about these important issues.

The film was commissioned by Dawson College, the largest CEGEP in Montreal, with over 10,000 students, for presentation at their Social Sciences Week Conference in October, and with their generous financial support.

To view the film and hear from our panelists, please register for the event by emailing maya@asabarristers.com and student@asabarristers.com. Indicate your organizational membership to qualify for free participation.

We expect professionalism CPD will become available. It is currently pending.
