APRIL IS FOR TEACHING, WRITING, PUBLISHING AND EDITING – ANOTHER FULL TIME JOB

As if lawyering and running a seven person law firm wasn’t enough, I now have two other full time jobs for a total TRIFECTA. Mothering young adults isn’t quite the 24/7 body guard duty of parenting babies and toddlers, but it’s not without its demands, albeit of course coupled with great joys and rewards.

But this month of April, 2024 has also brought me the also very rewarding and joyful preoccupations of effectively a third full time job – teaching, writing, editing and publishing.

In recent weeks I have taught at law schools in prominent universities, health practitioners, legal aid lawyers, high school students, business undergrads and more.

I have several academic articles already written, awaiting editing and publication in various legal journals and publications. One interview for a documentary is in the can, another has been scheduled.

I have submitted the final manuscript on our newest book, the CAMHL, and am currently finalizing updates for the special 20th anniversary edition of the CCB Guide. The latest Halsbury’s just showed up in hard copy. And last year’s new release, the LMHC: Cases and Materials is being used in law schools across the country as the required text.

As soon as I finish writing the 2025 Updates for the CCB Guide, I am expecting first proofs on CAMHL to edit – literally the next day.

This means that I will have five published books out available for purchase by the end of the summer of 2024. All but one were released or updated in the last year. They are all (but one) current to 2023/2024.

Currently available through LexisNexis are current to the day titles as follows:

A Guide to Consent and Capacity Law In Ontario, 2024 Edition

Halsbury’s Laws of Canada – Mental Health (2023 Reissue)

Law and Mental Health in Canada: Cases and Materials

This is HUGE and a BIG PARTY is being planned – excited to celebrate success and accomplishment in legal publishing, a journey 20 years in the making with a whole lot of trials and tribulations in between.

You can find the new book – the Canadian Anthology on Mental Health and the Law under my author page with LexisNexis soon – we’re not quite there yet but it should be available for pre-order in a couple of months with a print copy to your door in August!
