Criminal Cases Review Consultation Committee Releases Full Report recommending Miscarriages of Justice Commission – February 3, 2022

This incredibly important Report was finally released in full today.

It is honestly wonderful.

I am personally gratified because LAMDA contributed written and oral submissions and is recognized throughout the entire Report for making and supporting some of the recommendations the Consultation Committee ultimately adopted and made.

It’s nice to have our contributions recognized.

Probably the most significant of these is that NCR Verdicts be reviewable by the Commission.

We also said minor offences should be reviewable because of the propensity for those with serious mental health issues to be convicted serially for minor offending.

Two of the lawyers who worked with me on our submissions deserve a lot of credit Sarah Rankin and Caleigh Glawson.

CALEIGH IS PERSONALLY NAMED IN THE REPORT FOR MAKING CERTAIN RECOMMENDATIONS!!

Congrats to all.
