Ewert in the Supreme Court of Canada is a WIN – honoured to have been counsel to the CLA on this one

Judgment released today – June 13, 2018 – it’s a WIN for the Appellant who was supported by the Criminal Lawyers’ Association as intervener, among others. I was very fortunate to be co-counsel with Jill Presser, Andrew Menchynski and Breana Vandebeek – all great lawyers and a joy to work with. Complex analysis but the case was won on statutory interpretation, not the Charter challenge, which is unfortunately dismissed.
